Zoundweogo: Between the end of December 2025 and mid-February 2026, Burkinabe fighting forces increased their offensive operations on several fronts across the national territory. Supported by air assets and the Volunteers for the Defence of the Homeland (VDP), the units of the BIR and FORSATEC neutralized several hundred terrorists, dismantled enemy bases and recovered important equipment, thus strengthening the progressive reconquest of the territory.
According to Burkina Information Agency, during the January and February operations, the Combat Forces were on high alert, eliminating terrorists at various levels who were using mini-drones either to observe their positions or to drop projectiles. On January 28, criminals stormed a VDP position in Dagadou, near Bogand©. BIR 19 troops quickly intervened to support the VDP. The enemy was decisively defeated and equipment recovered.
On January 27, in Manni, the Combat Forces neutralized criminals who had come to gather intelligence on their positions. The same day, in Gomboro in the Sourou region, assailants on an intelligence mission were also neutralized. On January 29, a terrorist pair operating with mini-drones dropping projectiles in Ougarou was spotted and eliminated.
On January 25, a group of criminals sent to assess the situation upon the troops' arrival was neutralized and their equipment recovered. A team of mini-drone operators dispatched after this failed attempt was also neutralized. On January 21, in the Bouroum area of Kouls©, terrorists hiding under trees were effectively struck. Later that evening, these same criminals attempted to send a team operating with mini-drones to harass friendly units, but all the attackers and their explosives were destroyed.
On January 20, in Namissiguima, a pair of terrorists using mini-drones were spotted and tracked to their destination in dense trees. They were effectively struck and neutralized. On January 19, the 7th BIR attacked a terrorist base north of Djibasso. Air support confirmed the enemy presence and carried out an initial strike to disrupt the attackers. The base was invaded by the BIR, who recovered the enemy equipment, while the surviving attackers fled.
On January 18, criminals attacked a base of the forces in Balga. The soldiers resisted and forced the enemy to flee, leaving corpses behind. On January 16, in the Koogo and M¨n¨ areas, the rapid intervention group, supported by a company from the 30th BIR, ambushed the criminals. Dozens of assailants were killed and equipment was recovered.
On January 15, the 26th BIR conducted an offensive reconnaissance in Ponkoyonli and neutralized several criminals. On January 14, the 29th Rapid Intervention Battalion (BIR 29), conducting an offensive reconnaissance mission in Gomboro, made contact with an enemy which it quickly neutralized. Units of the Special Action and Combat Force (FORSATEC) also moved into the towns of Konan and Kombori and neutralized other criminals.
On January 12, the men of the 26th BIR in Ouagarou conducted offensive reconnaissance in the Pi©ga area and successfully confronted the enemy. On January 7, BIR 30 men on reconnaissance in M¨n¨ neutralized terrorist precursors and recovered equipment. On January 4, the 5th BIR, on a mission in Di, neutralized enemy lookouts after an infiltration.
The series of operations had begun as early as December 28, 2025. In the Kouls© area, surveillance made it possible to detect a gradual arrival of terrorist criminals on the outskirts of Barsalogho. After they were installed, artillery strikes annihilated the attackers the following morning, and the survivors fled north. On December 31, 2025, a pickup truck belonging to the criminals was spotted and pursued by aircraft. The assailants attempted to camouflage it, but a Special Forces commando intervened to recover the equipment. These successes demonstrate the discipline, courage and professionalism of the Fighting Forces in the fight against terrorism.
