Kourittenga: The Muslim community of Kourittenga province held a blessing ceremony for the newly renovated mosque this Friday, February 13, 2026, at the Grand Friday Mosque in Koup©la. The ceremony was attended by the High Commissioner, representatives of the province's institutions, His Majesty Naaba Yemd© of Koup©la, and leaders of other religious denominations.
According to Burkina Information Agency, the Muslim faithful of Koup©la gathered on the morning of Friday, February 13, 2026, for a prayer to bless the rehabilitated Grand Friday Mosque of Koup©la. The rehabilitation work carried out includes the expansion of the mosque, the rehabilitation of water points, and the construction of Koranic schools within the mosque grounds, thanks to the support of the Lesogo family.
The representative of the Muslim community expressed his gratitude to the Lesogo family who contributed enormously to the rehabilitation of the Grand Friday Mosque of Koup©la. For the representative of the Lesogo family, it is their duty to contribute constructively to development through this mosque, and they wished for a swift return of peace to Burkina Faso.
His Majesty Naaba Yemd©, Kourit-Yir-Soaba, translated his words of blessing that the mosque remains a place of teaching the values of tolerance, solidarity, and peace. According to the High Commissioner of the province of Kourittenga, Moctar Ilboudo, these rehabilitation works of the Grand Mosque of Koup©la have respected the standards required by the competent authorities of our country.
He called on Muslim faithful to unite and show solidarity in order to better promote social cohesion and strengthen the sense of community that Burkina Faso so desperately needs. The blessing ceremony for the rehabilitation of the Grand Friday Mosque of Koup©la concluded with the grand Friday prayer within the grounds of the said mosque.
