Mouhoun: The Dozo hunters of the Kona commune celebrated their traditional annual festival on Sunday, February 15, 2026, in Kona. The festival, dedicated to promoting the culture and values of this ancestral brotherhood, was held under the patronage of the President of the Special Delegation, Ali Sanou, and sponsored by the head of the Dozos, Seydou Ouedraogo, with the participation of delegations from the Bankuy and Sourou regions.
According to Burkina Information Agency, by mobilizing traditional actors around the values of peace, social cohesion, and patriotism, this celebration served as a framework for the dozo community to reaffirm its commitment to preserving its cultural identity and its engagement alongside the authorities in the dynamic of securing the national territory.
The head of the Dozo community in Kona, Oumarou Cisse, welcomed the strong mobilization of participants and expressed his gratitude to all the guests for their presence, which he described as a sign of consideration and support for the community.
The head of the Dozo delegation from Dedougou, Seydou Ouedraogo, congratulated the organizers of the event and thanked the administrative authorities for their constant support. He also made a request for support in terms of equipment and logistical resources, in order to enable the dozos to contribute more effectively to efforts to secure the national territory in the context of the fight against terrorism.
The President of the Special Delegation (PDS) of Kona, Ali Sanou, expressed satisfaction with the smooth running of the ceremony and encouraged the regular holding of such cultural initiatives, which promote social cohesion and the preservation of traditional values. He also invited the dozos to strengthen their collaboration with the Defense and Security Forces (FDS) as well as with the Volunteers for the Defense of the Homeland (VDP), with a view to active participation in the reconquest and securing of the territory.
The various speeches were punctuated by enthusiastic ovations and symbolic volleys of gunfire, reflecting the participants' support for the authorities' guidelines and presidential initiatives in matters of national defense. The ceremony ended in a festive atmosphere, marked by traditional dances and songs of glory performed by the dozos, demonstrating their attachment to their cultural identity and their determination to work for a free, united, and prosperous Burkina Faso.
Through this celebration, the Dozo community of Kona reiterated its willingness to remain a leading player in promoting culture, consolidating social cohesion, and supporting the State's efforts towards a sovereign, secure Burkina Faso resolutely focused on the future.
