Nakamb©: The Governor of the Nakamb© region, Yiy© Abraham Somdo, officially launched the FASO YAAR program in the region this Thursday. This subsidized sales initiative aims to boost household purchasing power while promoting domestic production, in a context marked by the Christian Lent and the Muslim fast.
According to Burkina Information Agency, the launch took place at the Tenkodogo town hall, in the presence of administrative authorities, representatives of constituted bodies, and numerous consumers. Through FASO YAAR, the government aims to bring essential consumer goods closer to the population at regulated and affordable prices.
The store, specially set up for the occasion, offered items such as sugar and cooking oil from the companies SN SOSUCO and SN CITEC, as well as locally produced juices from DAFANI and MALIA. Other items were also among the products offered. For the Governor, this initiative reflects the highest authorities' commitment to promoting "buying local" while providing a concrete response to the economic difficulties faced by households. He presided over the inaugural sale, handing over the first products to the very first customer, thus officially launching sales.
In his address, the head of the regional executive stressed the need for rigorous management of the operation. "This sale must be conducted transparently and fairly. Every citizen must have access to the products, without discrimination," he declared, calling on officials to ensure strict adherence to the established rules.
The president of the Boulgou provincial branch of the Consumers' League, Pierre Claver Kima, welcomed the initiative, which he considers timely given the current high demand. According to him, the availability of products at state-set prices will help curb price gouging.
A major innovation this year is that services and organizations wishing to purchase products as donations for their staff can now do so, provided they submit a prior request to the president of the special delegation, specifying the desired quantities. Individual purchases, on the other hand, are made upon presentation of an identity document, in compliance with the established quotas.
With the launch of FASO YAAR in Nakamb©, regional authorities are reaffirming their commitment to promoting local products. The initiative, which is expected to expand to other foodstuffs such as rice and soap, aims to be a lever for sustainable social support, benefiting both consumers and Burkinabe industries.
