Bogand©: A 16-year-old student died following a fight that occurred on Wednesday, February 18, 2026, between two classmates at a secondary school in the town of Bogand©, according to concordant sources. The fight took place outside the school grounds.
According to Burkina Information Agency, the victim and the alleged perpetrator, aged 16 and 15 respectively, were students in the same class and knew each other, their families being neighbors in sector 1 of the city of Bogand©. The dispute reportedly arose during a class session, during which remarks deemed insulting were allegedly made.
After several altercations in the preceding days, the two minors clashed again on Wednesday, using bladed weapons. Seriously injured, the victim was first admitted to a CSPS before being transferred to the Bogand© Medical Center with surgical unit, where she succumbed to her injuries despite the care received.
Security forces intervened to restore calm. Administrative, customary and religious authorities went to the victim's home to offer their condolences and call for calm. A criminal investigation is underway to determine responsibility. This tragedy underscores the need to strengthen awareness of peaceful conflict resolution in schools.
