Niamey: During the week of February 9-15, 2026, targeted operations conducted by ground troops, supported by coordinated air strikes, resulted in the neutralization of forty-three terrorists and the arrest of twenty-eight suspected accomplices of armed terrorist groups, reports the Integrated Coordination Center for Operations (CICO) in its latest information bulletin published on February 17, 2026, and reported by the newspaper Le Sahel.
According to Burkina Information Agency, these actions led to significant seizures of weapons, magazines, and ammunition. The operations also led to the discovery and seizure of sensitive materials and logistics, including five thousand four hundred and fifty-two sticks of dynamite, sixty-eight rolls of detonating cord, more than sixty-eight thousand liters of contraband fuel, and hundreds of thousands of harmful tablets intended for criminal networks.
The CICO noted a significant decrease in incidents involving improvised explosive devices compared to the week of February 2nd to 8th. "Five IEDs were detected and neutralized during the period under review," while noting that at the end of the past week, "the security situation throughout the national territory remains generally under control."
The defense and security forces are continuing their security and stabilization missions. The forces involved remain fully mobilized for the consolidation of operational gains and the preservation of the integrity of the national territory, the security institution reassured.
