Tenkodogo: The Association of Togolese nationals living in Tenkodogo (ART) held its annual New Year's greetings ceremony on Saturday, under the banner of community unity, respect for the laws, and collaboration with the authorities and host populations.
According to Burkina Information Agency, the meeting took place in the presence of the Secretary General of the Boulgou Province, Lall© Siaka dit Yao, representing the High Commissioner of the Province, the Regional Director in charge of Communication, Culture, Arts and Tourism, as well as several administrative, customary, and security authorities.
In his address, the president of the Association of Togolese Nationals, St©phane Kodjo Agnigbagno, expressed his gratitude to the local authorities for welcoming and integrating the Togolese community in the municipality of Tenkodogo. He also commended their support during the difficult situations faced by some nationals in 2025. "Your presence here testifies to the existence of an organized and committed community," he said, before extending his wishes for health, peace, and success to the members and partners for the year 2026.
The president of the association also paid tribute to the supporters and members of the executive board for their involvement in assisting and supporting Togolese nationals. With approximately 300 members registered, out of a Togolese population estimated at nearly 1,000 people in the commune of Tenkodogo, the association intends to strengthen its organization and expand its actions.
The program of activities for the year 2026 includes the organization of training courses on the texts governing the stay of foreigners, the holding of mobile hearings for the establishment of consular cards, the acquisition of a headquarters for the association, and the launch of an awareness campaign called "Zero clandestine stay in Tenkodogo". In this regard, Mr. Agnigbagno renewed the request for the allocation of a municipal space intended to serve as a framework for guidance, listening, and empowerment of members.
The ceremony was marked by a minute of silence in memory of the deceased members, including the association's former advisor, Ms. Kpelinga Adjara, as well as the Defense and Security Forces and Volunteers for the Defense of the Homeland who fell for the Nation. Through this meeting, the Association of Togolese Nationals reaffirmed its commitment to contributing to social cohesion and living together in Tenkodogo, calling on its members to respect the laws and to collaborate responsibly with local authorities and host populations.
