Bam/National Flag Raising: The Provincial Tax Directorate Urged to Be the Pillar of Revolutionary Tax Justice

Kongoussi: The High Commissioner of Bam Province, Karim Ouedraogo, called on Tuesday morning for workers at the Bam Provincial Tax Directorate to demonstrate exemplary tax practices in the context of the Popular Progressive Revolution during the monthly raising of the national colors. The rotating flag-raising ceremony in Bam took place at the Bam Provincial Tax Directorate. It brought together key stakeholders and staff of the provincial tax directorate.

According to Burkina Information Agency, High Commissioner Ouedraogo emphasized the strategic role of taxes in anchoring the ongoing revolutionary movement. "The Provincial Tax Directorate is the primary service for revenue collection. You are the guardians of tax justice and the executors of the popular will," he declared to the tax workers.

He noted that the tax reform undertaken by the government aims to build a system capable of mobilizing endogenous resources to finance national priorities, including schools, health centers, and infrastructure. "Taxes should no longer be seen as a burden, but as a tool for redistributing wealth for the benefit of all," argued Mr. Ouedraogo, while urging agents to demonstrate integrity, transparency, and professionalism.

The High Commissioner also recalled the launch, on March 2, 2026, of the 4th edition of the Days of Exemplary Tax Practice which will be held until March 31, under the chairmanship of the Burkinabe Prime Minister. In conclusion, he urged the people to pay their taxes on time in order to consolidate national sovereignty and support endogenous development.

As a reminder, the next flag-raising ceremony will take place at the Kongoussi Detention and Correctional Facility.
