Banfora: The traditional raising of the national colors took place on Monday at the town hall of Banfora, capital of the Tannounyan region, in the presence of administrative authorities, defense and security forces, heads of decentralized services, as well as the vital forces of the region.
According to Burkina Information Agency, the event was presided over by the regional governor, Patrice Yeye. This monthly flag-raising ceremony, held every first Monday of the month, is part of an effort to strengthen patriotic spirit and consolidate national unity. It provides a framework for civic engagement and resilience in the face of security and socio-economic challenges.
The president of the special delegation of the Commune of Banfora, Yakouba Barro, expressed his gratitude to the regional authorities for their continued support. He commended the open collaboration between the supervisory authority and the local government, while reaffirming the commune's commitment to working towards improving the lives of the population, promoting social cohesion, and fostering local development.
The governor congratulated the various institutions for their mobilization and high sense of responsibility. He urged public and private sector employees to demonstrate integrity and loyalty in the performance of their duties, reiterating the need to break with the practices that hinder the momentum of national transformation.
Speaking about current national events, he praised the efforts made by the fighting forces in the theater of operations and expressed his compassion to the families of soldiers who fell for their country, while wishing a speedy recovery to the wounded.
Mr. Yeye also addressed ongoing government initiatives, notably the opening of Faso Yaar shops to support the population during this period of penitence. He urged all stakeholders to strictly adhere to the guidelines issued to ensure the success of this initiative.
Beyond its formal nature, the ceremony was imbued with strong spiritual symbolism, in a context where Christians and Muslims are respectively observing Lent and Ramadan. Prayers were offered for peace, security, and progress in Burkina Faso.
