Return of Afro-Descendants to Burkina Faso: Delegation Meets with Burkinabe Foreign Minister

Ouagadougou: People of African descent have returned to Burkina Faso. The delegation was received in audience on Wednesday, March 4, 2026, by the Minister of Foreign Affairs, His Excellency Karamoko Jean Marie TRAORE, accompanied by the Deputy Minister, Ms. Bêbgnasgnan Stella Eldine KABRE/KABORE, and other staff members.According to Burkina Information Agency, this delegation from the Diaspora Development Institute (ADDI) is making a second visit to the land of upright men, as part of the initiative to reconnect with ancestral African roots and the implementation of an investment and development support program for the country.At this meeting with the Minister of Foreign Affairs, the head of the delegation, Dr. Arikana CHIHOMBORI, indicated that this is an advanced mission of ADDI to prepare for the return and participation of Afro-descendants next April, at the SNC 2026 cultural festival in Bobo-Dioulasso.ADDI plans to make a successful participation in the cultural biennial through the organization of a hair fashion show and a dance competition. Therefore, the president invites Burkinabe cultural actors to participate massively in these activities.'We will showcase the best that Africa has to offer. We want traditional dancers from Burkina Faso to participate. The winner of the dance competition will travel with us to South Africa where they will compete against South African dancers in September,' said the president of ADDI.She also mentioned the organization of a day of discussions on the themes of African women, the liberation of Africa, and the promotion of Burkinabe youth. It should also be noted that the delegation is composed of several experts in the fields of infrastructure construction, logistics, technology among others, eager to support development in Burkina Faso through investments.The Minister of Foreign Affairs is delighted to welcome members of the African diaspora "home" in Burkina Faso. He congratulated them in advance for their initiatives in the areas of investment and promotion of African culture.According to SEM Karamoko Jean Marie TRAORE, these are relevant initiatives and impactful projects, which his department will not hesitate to support in their realization. He praised the dynamism and commitment of the president of ADDI and all her teams from the African diaspora, in strengthening cooperation with Burkina Faso.
