Sanaba: The population of Sanaba organized a tribute and recognition day for the Defense and Security Forces (FDS) and Volunteers for the Defense of the Homeland (VDP), donating 650,000 FCFA and food supplies. This event took place on Friday, March 6, 2026, to acknowledge the efforts of these forces in enabling the return of residents to the locality.
According to Burkina Information Agency, the ceremony began with a march and a rally supporting President of Burkina Faso, Captain Ibrahim Traor, followed by speeches from several local leaders. The event was initiated by Yzouma Coulibaly, Chief of the Sanaba Canton, who welcomed the participants. Key speakers included Honor Dakuyo, President of the Citizen Watch, Aminadab Sidib, representative of the Sanaba Women's Coordinator, and the Head of the Sanaba military detachment, representing the FDS and VDP.
Dr. Elise Coulibaly, Vice-President of the Institute of Black Peoples at the Presidency of Burkina Faso, served as the patron of the ceremony. Lieutenant Colonel Sosth¨ne Idrissa Coulibaly, Commander of the 5th Military Region of Ddougou, represented the head of the ceremony, expressing appreciation for the armed forces' dedication. The population was urged to continue their collaboration with the FDS and VDP to maintain peace.
The event included performances by local artists and concluded with remarks by Moussa Traor, President of the Sanaba Special Delegation. Donations were also made to support the armed forces and families of the victims, including a fuel voucher worth 450,000 FCFA for patrols, 200,000 FCFA for vehicle maintenance, and food supplies for the widows of fallen FDS and VDP members.
A friendly match between civilians and the FDS and VDP was organized, followed by a concert by artist Bakary Dembel. The proceeds from the concert were donated to the FDS and VDP.
