According to Burkina Information Agency, the Day was commemorated under the theme, "Building lasting peace in Burkina Faso: what contribution do women and girls make to promoting social cohesion?" This provincial celebration was marked by activities focused on women's economic empowerment, solidarity, and the promotion of social cohesion.

The official ceremony brought together administrative authorities, leaders of women's organizations and local people who came to celebrate the contribution of women to local development and peacebuilding. The president of the special delegation (PDS) of the Godyr commune, Pato©n©wend© Adama Congo, expressed his gratitude for the choice of Godyr to host this provincial commemoration. He paid tribute to the women of Godyr and throughout the Sangui© province for their unwavering commitment to development initiatives.

"Women are the foundation of the family unit and the mother of humanity," he reminded, inviting people and development partners to redouble their efforts to create an environment conducive to the empowerment of women and girls.

According to the provincial coordinator of women's organizations in Sangui©, Esther Bamouni/Kansono, the women of the province chose to celebrate March 8th differently by focusing on activities useful to the community. Since March 1st, several initiatives have been undertaken, including sanitation operations in certain public services to improve the working environment for employees. Training sessions have also been organized for women on the production of liquid soap, traditional "Kabakourou" soap, and the making of the local "kokodonda" loincloth.

In the same vein, the participants received training on the production of ecological charcoal, an alternative intended to reduce pressure on forest resources. The organizers also conducted field visits to women entrepreneurs, including a peanut paste production cooperative and a local breed pig farm. According to the organizers, these initiatives demonstrate women's ability to become entrepreneurs and strengthen their economic independence.

The provincial director of family and solidarity in Sangui©, Ms. Zongo/Ouedraogo Fatimata, praised the commitment of the women and their adherence to the government's guidelines aimed at prioritizing productive activities during the celebration of March 8. She also indicated that health activities were organized, including screening for cervical cancer and hepatitis B, as well as educational talks, thanks to the mobilization of a mobile clinic that came to Godyr.

The High Commissioner of Sangui© Province, Ms. Talari Germaine Ouoba, presiding over the ceremony, congratulated the women for their mobilization and commitment to concrete actions. She encouraged the women of the province to continue their economic initiatives, to embrace presidential initiatives, and to move beyond a dependency mindset in order to contribute more actively to the development of the province and the country.

The celebration was also marked by acts of solidarity towards vulnerable people, including internally displaced persons and people living with disabilities, who benefited from food donations. The women of Sangui© have finally announced their participation in the Faso-Mªbo initiative scheduled for March 9, with the aim of contributing to the national effort for development and social cohesion.
