Burkina faso: The women writers' association "Mots d'Elles" (Words of Women) donated approximately one hundred children's books to the mobile library of the National Museum of Burkina Faso on Wednesday, as part of the commemoration of International Women's Day. In her address, the association's president, Bernadette Sanou/Dao, stated that this initiative reflects "Mots d'Elles's" commitment to promoting quality literature and encouraging reading among the public, particularly young people.
According to Burkina Information Agency, book production is only meaningful if these works are accessible and read by their intended audience. Bernadette Sanou/Dao praised the existence of the National Museum's bookmobile, which she considers an important space for promoting reading and discovering books, especially for children. The donation of these books aims to enrich the reading shelves of this mobile library and strengthen young people's access to literature.
The president also specified that this activity constitutes the association's contribution to the celebration of International Women's Day 2026, themed: "Building lasting peace in Burkina Faso: what contribution can women and girls make to promoting social cohesion?" Representing the Minister of Communication, the Director General of the National Museum, Dao Christian Sabari, commended the association's commitment to promoting literature and education through books. He emphasized that the bookmobile is an innovative tool for cultural mediation that brings children closer to reading and cultural heritage.
According to him, books represent gateways to imagination, knowledge, and citizenship. The ceremony also featured awareness-raising activities, including messages of peace and living together, as well as readings by children, aimed at encouraging young people to develop a love of reading.
