Soum/djibo: The Djibo Commune Market Gardeners Association donated produce on Thursday to the Defense and Security Forces (FDS) and the Volunteers for the Defense of the Homeland (VDP). The producers also contributed 150,000 CFA francs to the Patriotic Support Fund and 100,000 CFA francs to the VDP support fund in response to the appeal from the president of the special delegation.
According to Burkina Information Agency, the handover ceremony took place at Djibo Town Hall, in the presence of municipal authorities, representatives of the fighting forces, and members of the association. The donation includes cabbage, tomatoes, carrots, onions, fresh corn, peppers, and other market garden produce from the producers' farms.
The president of the market gardeners' association, Djiblirou Tamboura, stated that this gesture aims to show the producers' gratitude to the Defense and Security Forces and the VDP for their support and efforts in securing the commune. "Thanks to their commitment, we can continue to work in our gardens and produce to feed the population," he said.
The representative of the commander of the 22nd Rapid Intervention Battalion (BIR 22), receiving the donation on behalf of the fighting forces, commended the resilience, support, and cooperation of the people of Djibo in the face of security challenges. He also thanked the market gardeners for this show of solidarity with the forces engaged in defending the territory.
The president of the special delegation (PDS) of the commune of Djibo, Hubert Drabo, praised the civic engagement of the association. According to him, patriotism is not limited to bearing arms, but is also manifested through individual behavior and acts of solidarity. "You are not VDP, you are not soldiers. Yet today, you are contributing to the peace effort. You are sending food and you are also providing financial support. This reflects your resilience and your solidarity with the FDS and the VDP," he said.
He also expressed his gratitude to the Defense and Security Forces and the VDP for their efforts day and night in protecting the population. With this gesture, the market gardeners of Djibo reaffirm their civic commitment and their solidarity in the national dynamic of support for the forces committed to peace and security.
