Poni: The municipality of Gaoua, in conjunction with the National Observatory for the Prevention and Management of Community Conflicts, organized the second edition of Community Day at the Gaoua Museum. This event is designed to enhance social cohesion and promote harmonious living among various communities.
According to Burkina Information Agency, the event was held under the theme "Valuing cultural diversity: a lever to consolidate peace and living together." The initiative aims to foster closer relationships among the population, recognize local skills, and encourage citizen participation in conflict prevention. Siaka Ouattara, president of the special delegation of Gaoua, expressed his approval of the event, emphasizing its role in promoting cultural values and local traditions, thereby advancing social cohesion and conflict prevention.
Ouattara noted that the previous edition of the Community Day, organized last year, had already made a significant impact by improving inter-community relations and aiding in the management of tense situations during 2025. Sidala Ouedraogo, representing the Permanent Secretariat of the National Observatory for the Prevention and Management of Community Conflicts, highlighted the importance of such initiatives in fostering social cohesion. She emphasized that the event serves as a practical demonstration of the "living together" concept often discussed in religious and social settings.
Ouedraogo urged the continuation of this initiative to bolster tolerance and dialogue among communities, advocating for the acceptance of cultural and linguistic differences. She stressed the importance of peaceful conflict management to maintain peace and social cohesion in Burkina Faso.
Emmanuel Yoda, representing the communities, praised the organization of this second edition, viewing it as an admirable initiative by the town hall and its partners. He pointed out that such gatherings allow communities to meet, understand each other better, and appreciate their cultural diversity through various expressions like food, clothing, and behaviors. Yoda advocated for the institutionalization of Community Day with a set annual date, enabling communities to better prepare and showcase their cultures through dances, music, and traditions.
