Burkina Faso Ministers Lead By Example During Exemplary Tax Days

Ouagadougou: Three ministers in Burkina Faso's government have set an example by fulfilling their tax obligations during the Exemplary Tax Days, encouraging citizens to honor their civic duties regarding taxes. The Minister in charge of Communication, Pingdwende Gilbert Ouedraogo, the Minister of Digital Transition, Aminata Zerbo/Sabane, and the Minister of Solidarity and Family, Lieutenant-Colonel Passowende Pelagie Kabre/Kabore, paid their personal taxes, including the residence tax, motor vehicle tax, and property tax on vehicles.

According to Burkina Information Agency, the ministers are part of the Rimtalba Jean Emmanuel Ouedraogo government. Their participation aims to lead by example and promote tax compliance among citizens. Minister Gilbert Ouedraogo emphasized the importance of satisfying this civic demand collectively and expressed enthusiasm for setting an example for others in their teams to follow.

The Minister in charge of Communication further explained the significance of their actions, highlighting the day's dedication to ensuring that all employees in ministerial departments, whether in the Administrative Hotel or other buildings, fulfill their tax responsibilities.

Etienne Soma, Head of Communication and Public Relations at the Directorate General of Taxes, noted that the Prime Minister launched the 2026 edition of the Exemplary Tax Days on March 2nd. The initiative is designed to encourage the country's leaders to set a precedent in tax compliance. The campaign includes taxes such as the residence tax, motor vehicle tax, weapons tax, and property tax.

Mr. Soma praised the citizens' mobilization, acknowledging the genuine participation and willingness to contribute during these days. He also reminded Burkinabe citizens of the "Faso Arzeka" platform, which facilitates the payment of these taxes.
