Mouhoun: In the midst of the Ramadan celebration period, the maternity service of the Tcheriba medical center received a significant donation of firewood, generously offered by the women of the village of Djissasso, for the benefit of women in labor and pregnant women.
According to Burkina Information Agency, the donation was handed over to the Head Nurse of the medical center, David Ky, who expressed his deep emotion and profound gratitude to the donors and praised this gesture of solidarity which has become a tradition. This initiative, renewed every year, illustrates the constant commitment of these women to improving the conditions for welcoming patients.
Beno®t Balou, a catechist in Tcheriba and a native of Djissasso, explained that this action is part of the activities carried out during the Christian Lent. Beyond its spiritual dimension, this period represents a time of sharing and mutual support, materialized by concrete actions for the benefit of the community.
For the ICP, this outpouring of generosity demonstrates the civic responsibility of the donors. "Some of them having already attended this maternity ward, they are not limited to being simple beneficiaries of health services, but are actively involved in identifying needs and seeking appropriate solutions," he stressed.
Midwife Lea Zongo highlighted the importance of this donation, specifying that firewood is essential for heating the water used by women after childbirth. She lamented the center's lack of resources to provide this service, while praising the awareness and commitment of the women of Djissasso to address this deficiency.
Composed of young girls, students, mothers, and older women, the group of donors reaffirmed their commitment to perpetuating this act of solidarity. This initiative highlights the need to strengthen the resources of health facilities, particularly maternity wards, in order to sustainably improve the quality of care offered to the population.
