Yako Prison Launches National Days of Patriotic Commitment with Focus on Local Production

Passor©: The High Commissioner of the province of Passor©, Daouda Sangar©, officially launched the activities of the first phase of the 3rd edition of the National Days of Patriotic Commitment and Citizen Participation (JEPPC) at the Yako Detention and Correction Center (MACY).

According to Burkina Information Agency, the launch featured a solemn flag-raising ceremony, symbolizing the theme of this year's event: "Food sovereignty and economic patriotism: together, let us cultivate our dignity through local production and consumption." The ceremony, chaired by High Commissioner Daouda Sangar©, united provincial directors, heads of services, and customary and religious authorities alongside the defense and security forces.

The event, running from March 26 to April 9, 2026, across the national territory, saw a notable turnout of participants, many dressed in traditional K´k´ Dunda attire. High Commissioner Sangar© delivered a message from President Captain Ibrahim Traor©, urging citizens to support the national economy by prioritizing local products.

Saidou Ou©draogo, the Secretary General of the province, outlined the program's activities, including a sports walk, a conference on radicalization and narcotics, a fun run, a sanitation day, and a focus on tax compliance. Chief prison security inspector Alexis Par© showcased the productions of the Yako Detention and Correctional Center's inmates and staff, highlighting the institution's role as a development symbol.

Par© also called for assistance to enhance the facility's water towers, which currently impede agricultural production efforts at MACY.
