Burkina Faso’s Communication Ministry Reports Progress, Urges Consolidation of Achievements

Burkina faso: The Minister of Communication, Culture, Arts and Tourism, Pingdwend© Gilbert Ou©draogo, indicated on Friday that in 2025, his department recorded notable progress despite a national context, before urging all his collaborators to strengthen governance, promote cultural influence and support endogenous development through concerted actions.

According to Burkina Information Agency, the minister, who also serves as the government spokesperson, addressed attendees in Ouagadougou during the first ordinary session of the Ministerial Sector Administrative Council (CASEM) for 2026. The session focused on adopting the 2025 activity report, reviewing the performance of various structures, and validating the 2026 activity program.

"This is an exercise in accountability and rigorous planning which should allow us to measure the progress made and to precisely chart the course of our future successes," stated Minister Pingdwend© Gilbert Ou©draogo. He emphasized the importance of evaluating past achievements to ensure future success.

The minister noted the prominence of significant events such as FESPACO, SITHO, the Galian, UACO, the Night of the Lompolo, and FILO. He highlighted efforts to protect and promote cultural identity through initiatives like the 3rd edition of the "Month of Cultural Heritage," alongside efforts to promote national gastronomy, and revive television series and museum exhibitions.

Further, Pingdwend© Gilbert Ou©draogo pointed to the strengthening of governance through the inspection of 1,118 tourist establishments, the digitization of 6,853 archive documents, and regular consultations. He also cited technical and financial support provided to over 1,600 cultural operators and the inauguration of the Thomas Sankara mausoleum. Strategic infrastructure projects such as the RTB headquarters, ISTIC headquarters, and the workshops of the National Conservatory of Arts and Crafts of Culture were also mentioned.

The minister stressed the need for enhanced coordination among structures, rigorous monitoring, and evaluation to ensure that each action aligns with the annual performance program and the 2026-2030 Recovery Plan. He called for the regular provision of reliable data to better assess the impact of interventions.
