Burkina faso: The Ministry of Foreign Affairs organized a workshop on Thursday, April 2, 2026 in Ouagadougou, dedicated to the establishment of an inter-ministerial committee for the evaluation of Burkinabe applications in international organizations.
According to Burkina Information Agency, this meeting aimed to develop and adopt the legal framework to govern the creation, organization, and operation of the said interministerial committee, with a view to better monitoring national expertise competing for elective and appointed positions within international institutions.
The opening ceremony of the workshop was chaired by Ambassador, Director General of Multilateral Cooperation (DGCM), Mariam Fofana, representing the Minister of Foreign Affairs, Karamoko Jean Marie Traore. In her speech, the Director General welcomed the mobilization of stakeholders around this framework for reflection dedicated to mechanisms for promoting Burkinabe skills internationally.
She noted that access to positions in international organizations is becoming increasingly competitive, hence the need to strengthen the strengths of Burkinabe candidates. "Our country is full of skills, recognized expertise, brilliant, committed and competitive women and men," she stressed, adding that these skills must be identified, prepared, and supported through a proactive, strategic, and coordinated approach.
The establishment of this inter-ministerial committee thus reflects the desire of the department in charge of Foreign Affairs to consolidate the presence and influence of Burkina Faso on the international stage. "The creation of this committee is no longer an option, it is a necessity, an imperative to move from reactive to proactive management of international careers," said the ambassador and director general.
With the establishment of this inter-ministerial committee, Burkina Faso marks its commitment to the operationalization of the National Strategy for the Placement of Burkinabe in International Organizations 2024-2028 (SNPB).
