Tuy: Students called upon to fight disinformation in the context of the People's Progressive Revolution. Omar Traore, the special envoy to the Presidency of Faso for the Guiriko region, led a public conference for students on the Popular Progressive Revolution (RPP) on Wednesday, April 1, 2026, in Hounde. This conference is part of the second edition of public awareness conferences on the fundamental principles of the Popular Progressive Revolution.
According to Burkina Information Agency, addressing the students, the speaker presented the fundamental principles of the RPP (Republican Peacebuilding Program) and the expected role of school youth in its implementation. He explained that the RPP aims to restore national sovereignty, the dignity of the people, and the economic independence of Burkina Faso. The project manager also drew the students' attention to the current context marked by information warfare and disinformation. He indicated that the participants had been equipped with knowledge about information manipulation mechanisms and the dangers of disinformation.
The envoy emphasized that the RPP (Republican Peace Policy) is based on order, discipline, and the patriotic commitment of citizens, particularly students. He urged them to verify information before publishing or sharing it on social media and to adopt responsible behavior. The project manager expressed satisfaction with the quality of the discussions and the students' engagement.
Seydou Traore, the provincial director of secondary, vocational, and technical education for Tuy, appreciated the relevance of the message conveyed, which he believes will contribute to strengthening students' patriotic commitment. He emphasized that the conference helped improve their understanding of the national context and their role in building a sovereign Burkina Faso. He urged the students to use social media responsibly and to prioritize reliable sources of information.
The students, for their part, appreciated the presentation. Samira Hande stated that she understood the importance of following credible media outlets to avoid misinformation. Rihanatou Coulibaly declared that she is committed to verifying information before sharing it and to contributing to the fight against fake news.
