Burkina Faso: Comedian Hamado Kabore Plans One-Man Show in Moore on May 13th

Ouagadougou: The Burkinabe comedian Hamado Kabore, known as "the Intellectual", announced on Monday that he will present a "one-man show" in the Moore language on Wednesday, May 13, 2026, at the National Museum of Ouagadougou, as part of the promotion of national languages and cultural values.

According to Burkina Information Agency, this initiative, spearheaded by Barack Production, aligns with the national movement to promote languages and cultural identities ahead of the Day of Customs and Traditions celebrated every May 15th. The event seeks to connect art with the populace while highlighting Burkina Faso's linguistic heritage.

Comedian Hamado Kabore, recognized for his role as "the Intellectual", stated that the show, delivered entirely in Moore, will humorously explore themes related to daily life, social realities, social class differences, and societal stereotypes. His aim is to entertain while provoking thought in a spirit of conviviality and responsibility.

Kabore encouraged a strong public turnout, expressing, "Come in large numbers, we're going to have fun and show the whole world a different image of Burkina Faso," emphasizing the importance of promoting a positive vision of the country through culture.

The general manager, Issa Siguire, confirmed that the event aims to contribute to social cohesion and resilience in a context marked by security challenges. Speaking at a Monday conference at the Everest Institute in Ouagadougou, he discussed the organization of the "One-man-show in the Moore language" scheduled for May 13.

"This initiative has a strong social ambition: to strengthen national cohesion, encourage living together and give hope back to the affected communities," said Issa Siguire. He emphasized that "laughing together is resisting together," underscoring culture's role as a source of hope and solidarity.

Siguire also noted that performances will be held in several locations, including Kaya, Ouahigouya, Tenkodogo, and Fada N'Gourma, to benefit internally displaced persons (IDPs) by providing moments of comfort, hope, and dignity to these vulnerable populations.

Organizers have extended invitations to public institutions, businesses, and technical partners to support this cultural, civic, and solidarity-driven initiative.
