Kampti PDS Soulama Launches Day of Exemplary Taxation, Calls for Civic Engagement

Kampti: In a context of strengthening local governance, the Prefect, President of the Special Delegation (PDS) of Kampti, Massahiba Aime Soulama, accompanied by key stakeholders from the department, set the tone for the 2026 fiscal year by officially launching the Tax Exemplarity Day during the monthly flag-raising ceremony. Through this significant action, the authorities intend to foster a genuine surge of civic engagement around tax compliance, a crucial lever for sustainable local development.

According to Burkina Information Agency, the Kampti Departmental Tax Center hosted the joint monthly flag-raising ceremony and the official launch of Tax Exemplarity Day on Monday, April 6, 2026. The event brought together a host of administrative, military, and paramilitary authorities, heads of decentralized and deconcentrated technical services, traditional and religious leaders, as well as representatives of NGOs, development projects, and programs.

The ceremony began with the solemn raising of the national colors, carried out in a profound spirit of civic duty and patriotism, to the sound of the national anthem, the Ditany¨. This moment of great symbolic intensity reminded all participants of their commitment to republican values and national unity.

Speaking on this occasion, the prefect and president of the special delegation of Kampti, Massahiba Aime Soulama, praised the constant mobilization of local actors, while expressing his thanks for their commitment to the traditional raising of the colours, organised every first Monday of the working month.

Following the official launch of the 2026 Tax Exemplarity Day, he indicated that this initiative, established by the highest authorities in the country, is part of a broader effort to promote good local governance and strengthen tax compliance. He therefore called upon every citizen to act responsibly in fulfilling their tax obligations.

Stressing the importance of tax revenues in the implementation of development actions, the PDS urged the population to fulfill their obligations, including the payment of residence taxes, taxes on motor vehicles and weapons, property income tax, land contribution on built and unbuilt properties, as well as enjoyment taxes.

He also reminded them that failure to comply with these obligations exposes offenders to penalties provided for by the regulations in force, thus inviting citizens to contact the Kampti Departmental Tax Centre to regularize their tax situation and to raise awareness among those around them about the importance of tax compliance.

The top administrative official of the department also expressed his gratitude to the various groups who mobilized strongly during the sanitation operations organized on Saturday, April 4, 2026, throughout the entire departmental territory, demonstrating a remarkable civic commitment.

The ceremony concluded in an atmosphere of responsibility and collective commitment. It was announced that the next monthly flag-raising ceremony, the fifth of its kind, will be held at the Kampti Basic Education District (CEB).

Through this dual event, the authorities and key stakeholders reaffirm their shared commitment to promoting active and responsible civic engagement, an essential foundation for the harmonious and sustainable development of the Kampti department.
