Father Olivier Sebgo’s Easter Prayer for Peace in Burkina Faso

Dori: Father Olivier Sebgo, executive secretary of the Catholic Organization for Development and Solidarity (OCADES), led an Easter Mass in Dori on Sunday with internally displaced persons (IDPs), praying for peace to transform hearts and remain steadfast in the minds of the Burkinabe people, fostering fraternity and social cohesion.

According to Burkina Information Agency, Sebgo emphasized the significance of Easter, which commemorates the resurrection of Jesus Christ, a cornerstone of the Christian faith. He highlighted that this resurrection symbolizes salvation for all humanity and serves as a message of hope for believers.

Father Sebgo expressed his hope that the forty days of fasting and prayer during Lent would deeply transform the hearts of the Burkinabe people, enhancing love for their neighbors and promoting brotherhood, despite the challenges faced by the country.

Among the attendees, Sandrine Mano, who celebrated Easter with her displaced relatives, shared her happiness at being reunited with her family. She expressed her desire for a quick return to peace in Burkina Faso.

The Grand Imam of Dori, Elhadj Mamoudou Cisse, also took part in the celebration, showcasing religious fraternity. He called on communities to pray for unity, peaceful coexistence, and harmonious living among different faiths in the country.

The Easter celebration at the Bon Pasteur center highlighted the shared messages of Christian and Muslim religious authorities, all wishing for the permanent return of peace to Burkina Faso and for fraternity to remain the foundation of living together.
