Loroum: The provincial director in charge of secondary education for Loroum, Souleymane Ouermi, presided over the flag-raising ceremony at the Titao General Education College (CEG), encouraging the school community to promote the consumption of local products.
According to Burkina Information Agency, the ceremony on April 1, 2026, featured the reading of a message from the President of Burkina Faso, Captain Ibrahim Traore, as part of the launch of the third edition of the National Days of Patriotic Engagement and Civic Participation (JEPPC). The President's message stressed a shift in consumption paradigms, focusing on local products.
The 2026 JEPPC phase, themed "Food Sovereignty and Economic Patriotism: Together, let us cultivate our dignity through local production and consumption," emphasized that "every bite of local product is a step towards breaking down the wall of economic domination." Following this, Mr. Ouermi urged students to initiate a behavioral change to support local producers and industries.
Mr. Ouermi highlighted the accessibility of local products such as potatoes, onions, and tomatoes, noting that they are produced by almost every family. The principal of the Loroum Provincial High School, Moustapha Ouedraogo, supported this vision, calling for a commitment from students and communities to local consumption as a lever for economic and social development.
Aminata Ouermi, the student council representative, echoed the President's message, emphasizing the importance of consuming local products for national development. Abdoul Hassirou Sankara, the head of human resources for the school administration, expressed enthusiasm for the initiative, noting that increased local consumption could lead to higher quality and better prices.
The first phase of the 3rd edition of JEPPC for the secondary education sub-sector includes several planned activities aimed at reinforcing these values.
