Dissihn: The Catholic faithful of the parish of Saint Ther¨se of the Child Jesus in Dissihn gathered at the foot of the hill on the west side of the church to observe the Passion of Christ on Friday, April 3. In a solemn and reverent atmosphere, the faithful commemorated Good Friday, marking the conclusion of the forty days of Lent with deep devotion.
According to Burkina Information Agency, the celebration commenced with Dagara funeral rites, followed by a profound prayer filled with emotion and contemplation. Under the blazing sun, the congregation traced the path from Gethsemane to Golgotha, progressing through the fourteen stations. At each station, passages from the Holy Scriptures were read, accompanied by songs and fervent prayers recited in unison.
The twelfth station highlighted a moment of profound sorrow, marked by the death of Jesus on the cross. At the thirteenth station, Jesus' body was given to Mary, his mother, evoking emotions of compassion and empathy in the face of the atrocity that pierced Mary's heart. After the burial of Jesus at the fourteenth station, the congregation observed a moment of silence until they entered the church.
A mass celebrated by Father Kpi¨l¨ Theotime Marie Somda conveyed a message of love for oneself and for one's neighbor, embodying the image of Jesus, who, with each drop of blood and every fall, took upon himself the physical and spiritual suffering of men. Reflecting on the situation in Burkina Faso and the Passion of Christ, a believer expressed that the Spirit of God, who raised Jesus from the dead, has already granted victory and peace to the land of upright men.
