Harare: The Kokologho departmental high school promotes local consumption as it organized a public conference focused on local products, AIB observed.
According to Burkina Information Agency, the event was held under the theme "Let's produce what we consume, my plate is my pride!" and was part of the Days of Patriotic Engagement and Civic Participation (JEPPC). The educational community of the Kokologho departmental high school gathered to discuss the significance of food sovereignty.
Addressing an audience comprising students, teachers, and administrative members, three educators from the institution, Messrs. Jean Fran§ois Bado, Ousseni Zongo, and Jean-Baptiste Ou©draogo, led a discussion on the topic of "buying local," under the moderation of Mr. Franck Olivier Zant©. They encouraged participants to embrace local culinary traditions and foster an entrepreneurial mindset from within the school environment.
Speaker Bado emphasized that local consumption is fundamentally about identity and cultural dignity. He noted, "There are civilizations, not just one civilization as we have been led to believe for so long. Just because the French eat with a knife, a fork, or a spoon doesn't mean we have to follow suit. We have our benga, our soumbala, our zamn©, which we eat with our hands. It's our civilization, and we should be proud of it."
The discussions aimed to increase awareness among young people about the importance of reducing reliance on imported products to support national expertise.
The JEPPC activities in Kokologho will continue on Thursday, April 9, 2026, with a closing conference scheduled in the deliberation room of the town hall.
