Banfora: The second edition of the International Waterfall Festival (FESTICAS) concluded at the Karfiguela Waterfalls in Banfora. The closing ceremony was graced by the presence of the Minister of Communication, Culture, Arts and Tourism, Pingdwende Gilbert Ouedraogo.
According to Burkina Information Agency, the festival, which spanned from April 4th to April 11th, 2026, showcased a series of cultural and tourism-related activities. The closing event attracted regional authorities, distinguished guests, and hundreds of festival-goers, marking a successful end to the festival.
Minister Pingdwende Gilbert Ouedraogo, in his speech, expressed his support for the festival's promoter and the attendees. He highlighted the festival's success and its promising future, noting that FESTICAS is thriving just a year after its inaugural edition. He emphasized Burkina Faso's potential in various domains and encouraged festival-goers to explore other tourist sites and cultural events.
Mamadou Yougos Kone, the General Commissioner of FESTICAS, affirmed that the festival met its expectations, attributing its success to public enthusiasm and the support from sponsors. He noted that the festival had a positive economic impact, with increased activity in hotels, restaurants, and transportation.
Despite challenges, Kone expressed optimism for the future of FESTICAS, emphasizing that the festival will continue to offer valuable experiences even with limited resources. This year's theme, "Culture and Tourism in the Service of Economic Development," underscored the festival's commitment to promoting cultural and tourism growth.
