Status of Customary and Traditional Chieftaincy Discussed in Ouagadougou

Ouagadougou: The Minister of State, Minister of Territorial Administration and Mobility, Mr. Emile Zerbo, granted an audience on Friday, April 17, 2026, in Ouagadougou, to a delegation from the High Council of Customary and Traditional Chieftaincy. Led by the Ouidi Naaba of Ouagadougou, Minister to His Majesty the Moogho Naaba Baongho, the delegation came to express its gratitude to the Government.

According to Burkina Information Agency, the discussions centered on the adoption of the Statute of Customary and Traditional Chieftaincy, which was enacted on January 14, 2026. The Council representatives commended the spirit of openness, dialogue, and consultation that characterized the drafting process of this significant document.

The delegation reaffirmed their commitment to continue collaborating with the Government to ensure the effective and harmonious implementation of the law, aligning with the ongoing efforts.

The Minister of State, Mr. Emile Zerbo, embraced this collaborative approach and reiterated his support for the customary and traditional leadership in the law's operationalization.
