Sandbondtenga: The new provincial director of the National Police of Bam, Chief Commissioner Harouna Belem, pledged on Tuesday, during his assumption of duties, to work to strengthen security in the province, focusing on professionalism, vigilance and close collaboration with the population. Chief Commissioner of Police Harouna Belem, appointed Provincial Director of the National Police of Bam on April 2, 2026, was installed on April 14 by the High Commissioner of the province of Bam, Karim Ouedraogo, in the presence of the vital forces of the province and the regional director of the National Police of Koulpelogo, Larba Yalambanga.
According to Burkina Information Agency, in his address, Commissioner Belem recalled that Bam continues to face security challenges in certain communes, the resurgence of urban crime and other forms of threats that undermine the peace of the population. "Faced with these challenges, I pledge to work with loyalty, rigor and selflessness, while counting on the constant support and guidance of all my colleagues," he said.
He also assured that he would base his actions on continuity, while bringing the necessary innovations to address security challenges, with the support of the driving forces of Bam. The province's high commissioner reminded Commissioner Belem that his mission is noble and demanding, as it will consist of guaranteeing the safety of people and property, maintaining public order and strengthening the bond of trust between the police and the population.
To ensure the success of this mission, he called upon the staff of the Bam National Police, as well as all members of the community, to engage in sincere and active collaboration with the new police chief. It is worth noting that Chief Commissioner Harouna Belem previously served at the General Directorate of Internal Security, specifically in the Directorate of Insecurity Analysis and Prevention. He replaces Chief Commissioner Kito Yaya Soulama, who is slated to become the regional director of Yaadga after eight years in Bam.
