Zam Community Bolsters Health Center with Significant Donation

Zam: The community supports the CSPS with mattresses and a sum of over 750,000 FCFA: The sons and daughters of the commune of Zam handed over financial and material support on Tuesday to the local Health and Social Promotion Center (CSPS), with a view to improving the conditions of patient care.

According to Burkina Information Agency, the contribution consists of five mattresses covered in vinyl and a cash donation of 755,500 FCFA. The donation was received by the head nurse of the primary health center (CSPS), Inoussa Ou©draogo, during a meeting that brought together local authorities, health officials, and residents.

In a presentation, Mr. Ou©draogo outlined the origins of the initiative, placing it within a context marked by equipment shortages. Indeed, according to him, the Zam primary health center, which serves more than 12,000 inhabitants spread across six villages, faces a lack of equipment such as blood pressure monitors, beds, and benches for patients. Hence the appeal for community solidarity.

He explained the fundraising mechanism launched in mid-March 2026 by the management committee (COGES) and the primary health center team. According to him, letters were sent to 30 people, requesting their contributions for the purchase of equipment needed to improve working conditions and the quality of care at the primary healthcare center (CSPS). He specified that 24 people responded, representing an 80% participation rate, with donations ranging from 1,000 to 100,000 FCFA and the purchase of five mattresses.

He also made public the list of donors and discussed future plans, including the acquisition of medical equipment and improvements to the center's facilities.

The president of the special municipal delegation, Ms. St©phanie Tenin Lonfo/Soma, commended the mobilization of the Zam community. She indicated that this contribution aligns with the principles of endogenous development, a priority for the highest authorities in the country. She added that transferring healthcare responsibilities to local communities makes this type of initiative valuable in reducing the burden on municipalities.

Ms. Lonfo/Soma encouraged the population to continue their efforts. She mentioned the need to complete the CSPS (Primary Health Care Center), which is in the process of becoming a Medical Center (CM).

The donors, for their part, reaffirmed their commitment to supporting local authorities in their development efforts.

Representing the Chief Medical Officer of the Zorgho health district, Dr. Pierre Ou©draogo congratulated the initiators and thanked the contributors. He urged communities to become more involved in managing their health and to support health facilities.
