Condolences Offered to Mali After Army General’s Death

Bamako: A delegation from the Confederation of Sahel States (AES) was received by the President of the Transition following the death of Army General Sadio Camara. The President of the Transition, His Excellency General Assimi GOTA, hosted the delegation on Thursday, April 30, 2026. The delegation was led by the Minister of War of Burkina Faso, Major General Celestin SIMPORE.

According to Burkina Information Agency, the delegation came to extend condolences from Niger and Burkina Faso, honoring the memory of the officer who died on April 25, 2026. General Camara lost his life during an attack by armed terrorist groups in Kati, which were backed by foreign state sponsors.

President GOTA expressed gratitude to his peers in the AES for their show of solidarity and support. The tribute emphasized the shared commitment and unity among the Sahel states in facing regional challenges.
