Gayeri Hosts Training Day to Enhance Skills of Preschool Educators

Gayeri: The head of the Basic Education District (CCEB) of Gayeri, Mr. Raogo Darankoum, organized a teaching day at the Early Childhood Development and Preschool Education Center (CEEP) of Gayeri, aimed at benefiting school directors housing preschool structures. The event took place on Thursday, April 30, 2026, and focused on enhancing the skills of educational stakeholders, with an emphasis on creating playful and educational materials from recycled resources.

According to Burkina Information Agency, this initiative seeks to address the challenges faced by newly established preschool centers, particularly the shortage of educational equipment. Mr. Darankoum noted that the reforms undertaken in Burkina Faso, which include the expansion of preschool education, necessitate such training to ensure quality education for all. He emphasized the importance of equipping educators with practical skills to design their own teaching tools, thereby enhancing the learning environment in preschool classrooms.

The workshop saw the participation of 13 primary school principals and six early childhood educators. The opening ceremony was graced by the presence of the provincial director of preschool, primary and non-formal education (DPEPPNF) of Komondjari, as well as the CCEBs of Bartiebougou and Foutouri, along with several school directors.

Mr. Totpambo Andre, the acting director of the CEEP in Gayeri, praised the initiative, citing its potential to strengthen the capabilities of educators and address the scarcity of teaching materials in preschool settings. Participants echoed this sentiment, with Lompo Pamsiga, a primary school teacher, highlighting the value of the pedagogical day and the opportunity to engage in the creation of educational materials and games for CEEP learners.

The training was timely and underscored the need for more substantial and extensive training to support the effective and efficient implementation of the CEEP expansion. Participants noted that the activity represents an endogenous approach that leverages local resources in the educational process, which could lead to improved care for young children and strengthen the achievements of preschool education in the Gayeri district.
