Zondoma: The Head of the Basic Education District (CEB) of Gourcy2, Patoim Sankara, expressed his satisfaction on Saturday regarding the smooth conclusion of the 2026 sports and cultural season. The season ended with the Alwahdatoul Islamia school securing a victory over Tangaye Publique "B" on the field of Gourcy school "A."
According to Burkina Information Agency, the Franco-Arab school Alwahdatoul Islamia of Gourcy clinched the title of the 2026 season of the Organisation for Sport and Culture in Primary School (OSCEP) of the CEB of Gourcy2 by a narrow score of one goal to zero. The decisive goal was scored from a penalty in the fourth minute by Abass Sankara, determining the outcome for Tangaye Publique B in this conclusive match of the year's sporting and cultural activities.
The district head, Patoim Sankara, expressed his pleasure with the successful final, which was attended by a large audience. He extended his congratulations to the educational community for their dedication and commitment, allowing the children to showcase their talents in cultural and sporting activities. Special mention was given to the partners who contributed to the success of the events.
Speaking on behalf of the sponsors, Dr. Saidou Barry highlighted the important work done by the organizers. He noted that through these activities, identity, memory, dignity, and community pride are transmitted, contributing to the formation of citizens and patriots.
The event's highlights included a cultural day, a women's cycling race, and the final football match, presided over by the President of the Special Delegation of the Gourcy municipality, Bosso Toe Kaba Tere. More than sixty schools participated in the event, which was launched on November 19th under the theme: "Sport and culture, allies of the educator, to promote community resilience." Alwahdatoul succeeds Bisnaba, the winner of the 2025 edition.
