Agricultural Volunteers Pledge to Boost Food Sovereignty in Nando

Koudougou: Launched on April 9, the field mission initiated by the Nando project officially concluded its work this Thursday in Koudougou, during which the agricultural VDPs pledged to "feed the AES".

According to Burkina Information Agency, after touring 38 communes, the agricultural Volunteers for the Defence of the Homeland (VDP) and young rural entrepreneurs reaffirmed their determination to make food self-sufficiency a reality for Burkina Faso and the Sahel region.

The Koudougou town hall served as the venue this Thursday for the final leg of a marathon fifteen-day tour. Led by Nando's Head of Mission, Pema Florent Neya, and his focal point, Ibrahim Bonkoungou, this mission mobilized key players in rural production across several provinces of the country.

From Boura to Koudougou, passing through Leo, Sapouy, Reo and Nanoro, a total of thirty-eight (38) communes were visited. Everywhere, the objective remained the same: to strengthen collaboration with agricultural volunteers and young rural entrepreneurs to meet the challenge of food security.

The organizers deemed the results of this tour "highly satisfactory." Following the discussions, the agricultural VDPs (Volunteers for the Development of Agriculture) from the municipalities of Ramongo, Sabou, Poa, Thyou, Sourgou, and Koudougou made firm commitments. They intend, in particular, to reinvest the skills acquired for the benefit of local youth and to support the presidential initiatives led by the Bureau of Major Projects.

"We are ready to feed the AES," they proclaimed in unison, thus marking their adherence to the vision of sovereignty championed by the Alliance of Sahel States (AES).

For those involved in the mission, this journey, which began on April 9, 2026, represents a historic step in citizen mobilization around the land. Beyond mere production, it is a march towards endogenous development where Burkinab¨ people empower themselves to feed their fellow citizens with dignity.

In concluding this mission in Koudougou, the Head of Mission praised the exemplary mobilization of field actors, seeing it as a strong signal of the country's irreversible march towards food sovereignty.
