Sissili: The residents of Koumbogoro village, located in the commune of Bieha, Sissili province, have demonstrated a significant commitment to national solidarity by donating a large quantity of food to vulnerable individuals. This initiative, led by the Homeland Defense Front (FDP), is part of the "D¨m¨-Sira" program supported by the Head of State.
According to Burkina Information Agency, the event was marked by a large-scale mobilization as the High Commissioner of Sissili province, Tewende Isaac Sia, was welcomed to Koumbogoro. The occasion was filled with cultural expressions, including masked dances and traditional troupes, emphasizing the community's dedication to both cultural heritage and national solidarity as encouraged by Captain Ibrahim Traore.
In total, the village collected 141 fifty-kg bags of maize. The local FDP office contributed 130 bags for the President of Burkina Faso, while the women of Koumbogoro donated 11 bags specifically for the Ministry of Family and Solidarity.
High Commissioner Tewende Isaac Sia noted that the gesture transcends mere food assistance, stating that it enables collective contributions to peace efforts and supports the President's mission to care for the vulnerable.
The national coordinator of the FDP, Lassane Sawadogo, who travelled from Ouagadougou, commended the community's awareness and commitment. He highlighted the importance of self-reliance in achieving true independence, echoing the ideals of Captains Thomas Sankara and Ibrahim Traore. Sawadogo also pointed out that the donation resulted from ongoing citizen engagement and awareness efforts initiated last year in the village.
Tatie Nacro, an FDP member and Koumbogoro resident, expressed the community's steadfast support for the President, emphasizing the initiative's role in aiding national development.
Leaders including the president of the special delegation of Bieha and a representative of the canton chief lauded the unifying effort and sought ancestral blessings for peace in Burkina Faso.
This event marks the second major action of its kind in April by the FDP's provincial coordination in Sissili, led by Mamoudou Kologo. The collected food will be centralized by the High Commission before being sent to the Presidency of Faso.
