Burkina faso: Education remains a pivotal element in the quest for peace and dignity in the Sahel region, as affirmed by Salif Maga, the director of Arbinda's A school. During a national flag-raising ceremony at the school, Maga emphasized the critical role of educating youth in securing territories sustainably. The ceremony was led by Ms. Haguiratou Maga, the first vice-president of the special delegation of the commune of Arbinda, who represented the President of the special delegation (PDS).
According to Burkina Information Agency, Mr. Maga highlighted that schools are a strategic front against violent extremism and ignorance. He stated that keeping classrooms open and children in school is vital for preserving peace and social cohesion. He urged the educational community in Arbinda to exhibit resilience and strive for excellence.
Mr. Maga reiterated the dedication of the teaching staff to imparting knowledge of Burkina Faso's history, civic education, and science to shape the future leaders needed in the Sahel. He expressed gratitude towards the Defense and Security Forces (FDS) for safeguarding the municipality and advocated for prioritizing schools in security and budgetary considerations.
Rehabilitation of school infrastructure, fortifying fences, and equipping classrooms with furniture were noted by Mr. Maga as significant victories in the pursuit of quality education. He called upon traditional and religious leaders, school management committee members, and parents to promote children's education, especially for girls, and to challenge ideologies that deter youth from schooling.
Addressing students directly, Mr. Maga encouraged them to embrace their future and view knowledge as a patriotic weapon. Ms. Haguiratou Maga, in her remarks, underscored the importance of social cohesion, civic responsibility, and patriotism in the current climate. She acknowledged the sacrifices and resilience of educators who persist in their mission to educate despite challenges.
