Hound© Celebrates Third Edition of Day of Customs and Traditions in Cultural Communion

Hound©: The Hound© Communal Council of Customary People celebrated the 3rd edition of the Day of Customs and Traditions on Friday, May 15, 2026, under the theme "Customs and Traditions: Foundation of Sovereignty and Burkinab¨ Identity," in a strong cultural communion.

According to Burkina Information Agency, the day began with sacrifices made in the morning to honor the spirits of the ancestors. The members of the Hound© customary communal council then invited the population to gather in front of the Hound© People's Leisure Center (CPL) to celebrate the Bwaba culture.

The ceremony featured performances from traditional troupes of the commune, including the Waminss© troupe from Dohoun, the pounders from Bouahoun, and the leaf and feather masks from Touaho, among others. Local artists such as Foroza Mambou© and Ou©tuen Demb©l© also participated in the festivities.

The chairman of the organizing committee, Nazi Bani, expressed gratitude to the authorities for instituting May 15th as a day of cultural significance. He emphasized the importance of honoring beliefs and valuing the ancestral powers that have historically guided communities.

High Commissioner of the province of Tuy, Issiaka Segda, presided over the ceremony, highlighting the day as a duty of remembrance. He acknowledged the role of customary chiefs, traditional leaders, and elders as social regulators. Segda noted their contributions to managing land disputes, mentoring youth, and preserving ancestral values, stressing that development and peace are intertwined with respect for customary authority.

Segda also encouraged young people to embrace the day dedicated to customs and traditions, which he described as the source of their strength. He urged them to take pride in their identity and to maintain unity as Burkinab¨.

The event included the participation of sister communities within the municipality, with a tasting session featuring local Bwaba dishes, showcasing traditional gastronomy.
