Guardians of Toma Invoke Ancestors for Peace in Burkina Faso

Nayala: The guardians of tradition in Toma, located in the province of Nayala, organized a ceremony of sacrifices and prayers in the sacred ground to implore the spirits of the ancestors for peace, social cohesion in Burkina Faso, and the victory of the Defense and Security Forces (FDS) over the terrorists.

According to Burkina Information Agency, the ceremony mobilized a large population as well as several administrative and customary authorities, including the high commissioner of the province of Nayala and the representative of the chief of the canton of Toma.

During the rites, sacrifices of poultry, goats, and sheep were made to solicit the protection of the locality, thank the ancestors for the blessings, and ask for the safety of the population as well as the security forces. Traditional leaders also offered prayers for the elimination of accomplishments of terrorist groups and the definitive return of peace to Burkina Faso.

The High Commissioner of Nayala Province, Honore Frederic Pare, commended the guardians of tradition for their commitment to social cohesion. He encouraged them to further promote unity, solidarity, and living together in harmony.

The representative of the chief of the canton of Toma, Gnissa Olympe Pare, thanked the authorities for the interest shown in traditional values. He indicated that the sacrifices made are aimed at the return of peace to Burkina Faso and the protection of the security forces engaged in the reconquest of the national territory.
