Rural Women in Zons© Trained in Soap Making to Boost Income

Noumbiel: Rural women are trained in soap making to generate income. The president of the Youth Promotion and Professional Integration Service (SPIPJ) of Zons©, Alima Gambo, with the support of Tasser© Ouedraogo, accompanied the training of women in soap making on Thursday.

According to Burkina Information Agency, women from the villages of Korgu©r©ya and Kar¨ta, in the commune of Zons©, received practical training in soap making. For three days, from May 19 to 21, 2026, the participants learned the techniques of making several types of soap under the shady trees of Korgu©r©ya, in a studious and friendly atmosphere.

The organizers stated that this initiative aims to strengthen the economic empowerment of rural women through income-generating activities. The beneficiaries themselves agreed to contribute to participate in this training session. Yombila Boussim, the facilitator, provided the women with the knowledge necessary for the manufacture of household soap, liquid soap, toilet soap, and other derivative products.

The women's association president, Mamouna Dabr©, welcomed this initiative, which she considers a source of hope for households in both villages. According to her, this training will now allow women to have a source of income and to better ensure the cleanliness of children's clothing and family homes. The participants expressed their gratitude to the SPIPJ agents for their efforts in promoting the socio-economic integration of women and young people.

The chiefs of the villages of Korgu©r©ya and Kar¨ta, the members of the Village Development Committees (CVD), as well as the presidents of the youth, took part in the closing ceremony and all welcomed an initiative they consider beneficial for local development and the improvement of the living conditions of women.
