Kombissiri: Catholic faithful celebrated the diamond jubilee (60 years) of Saint Joseph the Worker Parish in Kombissiri and the silver jubilee (25 years) of the Saint Joseph Shrine in Nazouma on Saturday, May 16, 2026, in Nazouma, Kombissiri commune. Thanksgiving, praise, and the recognition of pioneers and faithful, among other things, marked the Eucharistic celebration presided over by His Eminence Cardinal Philippe Ou©draogo.

According to Burkina Information Agency, the theme for the celebration was '60 years of the parish of Kombissiri and silver jubilee of the Saint Joseph sanctuary of Nazouma: in unity, let us commit ourselves with zeal and faith to the building up of our Church-family of God.' This theme captured the spirit of unity and commitment among the Catholic faithful of Kombissiri and other neighboring parishes who gathered with fervor and joy to mark the significant milestones.

The jubilee celebrations were highlighted by a Eucharistic service led by Cardinal Philippe Ou©draogo, in the company of several priests and religious figures, at the Saint Joseph sanctuary of Nazouma, located about ten kilometers from Kombissiri. Hundreds of faithful attended the mass, engaging in prayers, songs of praise, and acts of thanksgiving as expressions of their faith.

During his homily, Cardinal Ou©draogo called upon Christians to embrace their missionary roles and live their faith in alignment with God's will. He encouraged them to emulate Saint Joseph by showing love to their neighbors and contributing to the growth of the Church-family of God.

The celebration also recognized several faithful, including pioneers who received certificates of recognition for their dedication and contributions to the Catholic Church at the parish and Saint Joseph sanctuary levels.

In addition to the religious ceremonies, the jubilee was marked by various activities such as a priest's football cup, an evangelization campaign, and a vigil of praise and adoration. A large fair and a "Motorcycle Raffle" were also organized, with the raffle winner receiving a new Sirius motorcycle.

The Saint Joseph Artisan Parish of Kombissiri was established as a parish in 1966, and the Saint Joseph sanctuary followed in 2001. The parish is currently led by Father Albert Ou©draogo, along with two assisting priests.
