Bas-Neere Association Donates Half a Ton of Rice to Support VDP in Bittou

Bittou: The Bas-Neere association of carpenters of Bittou offered, on Monday in Bittou, half a ton of rice worth 175,000 CFA francs to the Volunteers for the Defense of the Homeland (VDP) of the commune of Bittou, in the province of Boulgou, in order to support their security efforts and allow them to celebrate the Tabaski festival in better conditions.

According to Burkina Information Agency, the second vice-president of the special delegation of Bittou, Awa Kambone, presided over the ceremony for the handover of the donation in the presence of administrative and security authorities, members of the donating association as well as representatives of the beneficiaries.

The Secretary General of the Bas-Neere association, Issouf Lingani, stated that the initiative aims to encourage the VDP for their daily sacrifices in the context of the reconquest of the national territory and the protection of the population. ‘This donation is a way for us to show our support and appreciation to the VDP (Volunteers for the Defense of the Homeland) for their daily efforts to ensure the safety of the population. With Tabaski (Eid al-Adha) just days away, we also wanted to allow them to share a moment of joy with their families,’ explained Mr. Lingani.

He further noted that this act of solidarity comes after the Bas-Neere Association built six shelters for VDP posts, at a cost of 300,000 CFA francs. ‘Following the construction of these facilities designed to improve their working conditions, we felt it was important to continue our support by providing them with food for this important holiday,’ he added.

Mr. Lingani also appreciated the effective presence of the municipal authorities at the ceremony and invited other associations and people of goodwill to follow this example in order to galvanize the VDP in their daily missions of securing the territory.

Presiding over the ceremony, Awa Kambone expressed her gratitude to the donors for this initiative, which she described as commendable. She encouraged the Defense and Security Forces (FDS) and the VDP to continue their efforts to secure the country and fully restore peace in Burkina Faso.
