Ouagadougou: Imam Cheikh Gafhar Ilboudo of the Tidjania Islamic community called on Burkinabe people in Ouagadougou to preserve social cohesion and living together, on the occasion of the celebration of the Tabaski festival at the Tidjania central mosque.

According to Burkina Information Agency, hundreds of Muslim worshippers gathered in an atmosphere of religious fervor and unity around the grand prayer marking Eid al-Adha. In his sermon, Imam Sheikh Gafhar Ilboudo offered prayers for peace, security, and stability in Burkina Faso. He also urged people, particularly young people, to adopt responsible behavior on social media. “We must avoid comments that could harm religions and social cohesion,” he advised.

The Minister of Foreign Affairs, Regional Cooperation and Burkinabe Abroad, Karamoko Jean Marie Traor©, present at this celebration, conveyed the government’s messages of fraternity and solidarity to the entire Muslim community. The Burkinabe foreign minister praised the efforts of Muslims in favor of peace and national unity. “We may have differences, but we remain one people, one family, one nation,” said Mr. Traor©.

According to him, the presence of the authorities at this celebration reflects their commitment to social cohesion and collective responsibility to overcome the current challenges facing the country. The minister stressed the need for Burkinabe people to work together to consolidate peace, unity, solidarity, and fraternity.

The celebration was also marked by the sacrifice of a sheep by Imam Sheikh Gafhar Ilboudo, a symbolic act of faith, sharing, and submission to God.
