Bittou: The Muslim community of Bittou celebrated the Tabaski festival on Wednesday in an atmosphere of religious fervor under the banner of peace, security, and resilience, in the presence of administrative, customary, and security forces. From the early hours of the morning, Muslim worshippers, men, women, young and old, mobilized in large numbers on the usual esplanade for major Muslim prayers, located in sector 5 of Bittou.
According to Burkina Information Agency, on foot, by motorcycle, in vehicles or tricycles, the faithful converged on the site to perform the prayer marking the celebration of Eid al-Adha. At around 8:30 a.m., the arrival of the president of the special delegation (PDS) of Bittou, accompanied by a delegation composed of members of the municipal administration, security forces, and customary authorities, marked the beginning of the religious ceremony led by Imam Sayouba Dirssongo.
After the two rak'ahs of prayer, the imam, in his sermon, recalled the fundamental values of Islam, particularly peace, tolerance, living together, and solidarity. "Islam promotes peace, social cohesion, and tolerance among communities," he declared, while offering prayers for the lasting return of peace and security to Burkina Faso.
The president of the Bittou special delegation, Mohamed Lamine Diabat©, expressed his satisfaction with the smooth and incident-free celebration. He stated that he had come to represent the administration in order to demonstrate its support for the Muslim community and to share in this moment of prayer. Mr. Diabat© also called on the population to be vigilant, civic-minded, and to celebrate the holiday with restraint and social cohesion.
