Ouagadougou: The Secretary General of the K©n©dougou Province, Bassama K´, met on Wednesday, June 3, 2026, with leaders of associations and cooperative societies in the commune of N'Dorola to present the main innovations of Law No. 011-2025/ALT of July 17, 2025, relating to freedom of association in Burkina Faso.

According to Burkina Information Agency, the meeting took place in the N'Dorola town hall's function room. It brought together several association stakeholders who aimed to understand the new provisions governing the operation of associations.

At the opening of the proceedings, the president of the Special Delegation of N'Dorola, Fatoumata Ou©draogo, welcomed the mobilization of participants and encouraged them to follow the discussions closely to grasp the changes introduced by the new law.

The province's secretary general, Bassama K´, explained that the meeting's goal was to help associations and cooperatives better understand the new rules governing their activities. He highlighted that the law introduces changes to the management of associations, including restrictions on certain individuals serving as presidents while holding office.

Mr. K´ reminded attendees that associations must have a headquarters, minutes of a general meeting, an up-to-date receipt, and a journal to remain compliant. He emphasized that the new law strengthens financial oversight and imposes sanctions for breaches, ranging from fines to temporary suspension or dissolution in severe cases.

The president of the Kagora association, Gouloussana Sessouma, noted that the meeting provided valuable insights into the new requirements for the functioning of associations. He remarked, 'We had knowledge based on the old regulations. Today, we know that the rules have changed and we must comply with them.'
