Ouagadougou: Journalist Acha Diombele/Kabre of Burkina Faso Radio and Television (RTB) was crowned Super Galian 2026 during the 29th edition of the Nuit des Galian awards in Ouagadougou. She achieved this prestigious accolade with an impressive average score of 17.22/20 in the magazine category of the national language radio production section.
According to Burkina Information Agency, Acha Diombele/Kabre competed with her impactful works “Mankan: cerebral palsy of children, born under accusation” and “Koumankan: child in conflict with the law, the child on probation,” which were broadcast in September and October 2025. Her outstanding contributions earned her a trophy, a check for 3 million FCFA, a villa, and numerous gifts from the event’s partners. She expressed her gratitude to her supporters who played a crucial role in the creation of these projects.
The event also featured remarks from the Minister of Communication, Culture, Arts and Tourism, Pingwende Gilbert Ouedraogo, who highlighted the critical role of accurate information amidst national security challenges. He emphasized that Burkina Faso remains steadfast against disinformation and destabilizing communication efforts. The minister urged journalists to uphold ethics and professional standards, describing them as “Volunteers for the Defense of the Homeland (VDP) of Information.”
In his address, Mr. Ouedraogo congratulated all the winners for their exceptional work, acknowledging the awards as a testament to their dedication to delivering professional and quality information. The 29th edition of the Nuit des Galian saw a total of 134 nominations for 268 works, with 28 special prizes, 21 official prizes, two honorary Galian awards, and the coveted Super Galian award being presented.
