Baccalaureate Exams Begin for 849 Candidates in Liptako and Soum Region

Dori: The governor of the Liptako and Soum region, Abdoul Karim Zongo, officially launched the 2026 baccalaureate exams in Dori. A total of 849 candidates, comprising 384 girls and 465 boys, are taking part in this exam across various centers in the region.

According to Burkina Information Agency, candidates for this session are distributed among four examination centers: two in Dori, one in Djibo, and one in Gorom-Gorom. They are enrolled in the A4, C, and D series, as well as several professional fields, including agriculture, solar energy, and meat and egg processing.

Compared to the previous session, there is a slight decrease in the number of candidates. In 2025, the Sahel region had 901 candidates, with 415 girls and 486 boys, across five examination centers.

The regional director of Secondary Education and Vocational and Technical Training, Salifou Porgo, assured that all necessary measures have been taken to ensure the smooth running of the exams. He praised the dedication of those involved in the education system and the Defense and Security Forces for their role in organizing the exams despite the challenging security situation.

Governor Abdoul Karim Zongo addressed the candidates, wishing them success and encouraging determination. He reminded them of the region's achievement of first place nationally in the 2025 baccalaureate session, urging them to maintain this performance and demonstrate the resilience of the people of Liptako and Soum.

To promote academic excellence, the governor announced rewards for top students, including computers and motorcycles, to encourage healthy competition.

The commencement of the 2026 baccalaureate exams in the Liptako and Soum regions reflects the commitment of administrative and educational authorities to uphold education continuity despite security challenges. With 849 candidates registered, there is anticipation for the region to build upon the previous session's excellent results.
