Kadiogo: The Central Church of the Assemblies of God in Saaba organized a public conference for its members on Sunday in Ouagadougou. The conference focused on communication in the context of a security crisis. Led by church leaders, with Louis Modeste Ou©draogo, President of the High Council for Communication (CSC), as the main guest speaker, the initiative aimed to strengthen participants’ knowledge of best communication practices, particularly on social media. Approximately one hundred members participated in this exchange and awareness-raising session, which centered on the challenges of responsible communication in a context marked by security issues.
According to Burkina Information Agency, Ms. Yvette Zida, a conference participant, noted the timeliness of this initiative. She expressed that the conference would enable members to better master communication, especially on social media. Ms. Rosine Matolel highlighted that the meeting provided participants with useful knowledge, emphasizing the importance of considering other aspects of social life besides religious teachings. She pointed out the necessity of verifying the accuracy of information before any publication or sharing.
Brigitte Ou©draogo, the Special Advisor to the President of Burkina Faso in the Central Region, praised the initiative, indicating that it contributes to strengthening the understanding of responsible communication. She urged everyone to carefully consider the content of their messages, stressing that poor communication can lead to delicate situations, particularly in crisis situations. Ms. Ou©draogo emphasized the need to assess the impact of truths on the public interest before disseminating them and encouraged other religious denominations to follow the example set by the Central Church of the Assemblies of God of Saaba.
Dr. Urbain Ou©draogo, the senior pastor of the Central Church of the Assemblies of God in Saaba, reminded attendees of the essential role communication plays in daily life. He explained that the conference aimed to allow the faithful to benefit from the expertise of specialists, equipping them to communicate responsibly in the current context. He added that good training helps reduce the risk of communication errors and invited participants to put the lessons learned into practice.
According to the keynote speaker, Louis Modeste Ou©draogo, communication must always consider the public interest. He stressed that freedom of expression comes with responsibilities, highlighting the importance of respecting established rules and promoting tolerance, respect for others, and social cohesion. He noted that the conference helped raise awareness among worshippers about the importance of calm communication that respects laws and social values, particularly in places of worship and on digital platforms.
