Burkina Faso’s AES Ministries Examine Confederation’s Structuring Files

Ouagadougou: Experts from the ministries in charge of sports, youth, and employment of the Alliance of Sahel States (AES) convened in Ouagadougou to review and amend the technical documents related to the confederation space’s activities, which will be validated by their supervising ministers.

According to Burkina Information Agency, the meeting is part of a broader strategic initiative aimed at reinforcing the sovereignty of the States within the ESA. As the current President of the Confederation, Burkina Faso is spearheading initiatives in sports, youth, and employment, which are crucial for social cohesion, integration, and economic sovereignty in the Sahel region.

The purpose of the expert meeting is to review, amend, and approve the technical documents related to AES activities overseen by the relevant ministries, with the goal of securing formal adoption by the Ministers of the Member States.

Over a two-day period, the experts are set to address several key areas, including the AES Games, the AES Confederal Youth and Volunteering Forum, the AES Confederal Employment Fair, and the development of an AES Confederal Youth and Sports infrastructure.

The meeting aims to establish a unified, cooperative approach and standardize practices among Confederation countries in organizing activities related to sports, youth, and employment.

Colette Ou©draogo, Secretary General of the Burkinabe Ministry of Sports, Youth and Employment, emphasized the importance of integration, citing the confederation’s motto: ‘one space, one people, one destiny.’ The Heads of State have consistently expressed their dedication to fostering integration across all sectors as a cornerstone of their shared future.

The experts intend to lay the foundation for synchronized initiatives in sports, youth, and employment to address common challenges such as unemployment, youth employability, and opportunities for personal development through sport, employment, and volunteering.

The outcome of the meeting is expected to be aligned programs, synchronized timelines, and shared metrics to assess progress.
