“I Am VDP” Caravan Promotes Social Cohesion in Douna


L©raba: The “I am VDP” caravan raises awareness among the population of Douna about social cohesion. The commune of Douna, located about ten kilometers from Sindou in the province of L©raba, hosted a stage of the “I am VDP” caravan, an initiative led by the committed artist Youdassif with the support of the Munyu Association of Women and the regional directorate of Human Rights and the promotion of citizenship and peace of Tannounyan.



According to Burkina Information Agency, the initiative aims to promote social cohesion, patriotism, and strengthen ties between populations, Defense and Security Forces (FDS), and Volunteers for the Defense of the Homeland (VDP). The ceremony was presided over by the President of the special delegation (PDS) of the commune of Douna, Abdoul Aziz Karambiri, in the presence of administrative, customary, and religious authorities, heads of technical services, VDP, and a strong mobilization of the population.



Several activities marked the day, including messages of peace, forgiveness, community reconciliation, awareness sessions on living together, sporting activities such as aerobics, and a military ball match between uniformed personnel and civilians, as well as cultural entertainment. Participants also took part in a radio game, a theatrical performance, and a tree-planting session, reflecting the organizers’ commitment to environmental protection. Discussions focused on the importance of social cohesion, solidarity, and patriotism in the current context of Burkina Faso.



The PDS of Douna welcomed the initiative and invited the population to strengthen their collaboration for the preservation of peace and security. According to the caravan’s promoter, Youdassif, the initiative aims to promote the values of citizenship, resilience, patriotism, and living together through concrete actions of awareness-raising and community mobilization.



The ceremony ended in heavy rain, which many participants saw as a sign of hope and renewal after messages of forgiveness and commitments to strengthening peace and social cohesion.
